Scribeless pricing: what is published and what is quote only

Scribeless pricing, explained: postcards from £1.99 to £1.19 plus stamps at local rates, while handwritten cards, letters and subscriptions are quote only.

5 min read

Scribeless publishes prices for postcards only: £1.99 each for 1 to 499, falling to £1.19 each for 5,000 to 9,999, with stamps charged at local rates (£0.62 for a US stamp). It does not publish a price for handwritten cards, letters or envelopes, and it prices subscriptions for recurring and integration-based campaigns through its sales team. These figures are as listed on Scribeless's pricing page in October 2026, in pounds sterling as shown there.

We run notecardHQ, a competing service, so we have kept to what Scribeless publishes, flagged where third parties disagree, and put a short note about us at the end.

Postcard prices

QuantityPer postcardWith a US stamp (£0.62)With a UK stamp (£0.91)

500 to 1,499£1.79£2.41£2.70

5,000 to 9,999£1.19£1.81£2.10
10,000 or moreQuote only

The stamp columns are our arithmetic from the listed rates. US campaigns of 1,000 or more can use presorted stamps at £0.30, which lowers the US column.

Postage

Scribeless says stamps are "charged at local domestic rates" and lists them per destination: US £0.62, Canada £0.70, UK £0.91, Europe £0.97 and the rest of the world £1.30. Because it has facilities in the US, Canada, the UK, France and Germany, mail can be posted locally with a local postmark and a real stamp.

The same page also says "Domestic postage included," which contradicts the separate stamp charges. Ask Scribeless which applies to your campaign before comparing totals.

Handwritten cards and letters

There is no published price. Scribeless offers direct mail with an envelope, custom stationery, inserts and gift cards, but the pricing page lists none of them. The numbers you will find elsewhere disagree with each other:

None of these is a price list, so treat them as a starting point for a quote, not a budget.

Subscriptions, credits and price matching

  • Subscriptions for recurring and integration-based campaigns are priced by the sales team.
  • Pre-purchased credits are available.
  • Price matching. Scribeless says it will "beat" a better quote and "price-match credit purchases for any like-for-like product with competitors."

The price-match offer is worth using. If you have a published all-in price from another service, bring it to the conversation.

How the writing is made

Price only means something once you know what you are buying. Scribeless's homepage and API docs do not say whether a pen or a printer makes the handwriting, and its Shopify listing calls it "AI powered." A 2019 University of Bristol article described robots with fountain pens, and Simply Noted, a competitor, says Scribeless laser-prints. We could not settle it from public sources. Ask for a sample card, and see real pen vs printed handwriting for how to tell.

A Scribeless postcard and a notecardHQ card are different products, so the two price columns are not a like-for-like comparison. For cards, the fair comparison is a Scribeless quote against our published rate at your volume.

Where Scribeless is the better pick

  • You want mail posted locally in the UK, Europe or Canada, with a local postmark.
  • Postcards are fine for the campaign. Its published postcard prices are low.
  • You buy at a volume where price matching pays. A large buyer can use the offer to beat a quote.
  • You need its connectors. Scribeless claims 50+ integrations, including a Shopify app, a HubSpot listing, Zapier and Clay, and its API has partner workflows and webhooks for recipient events and QR scans (docs).

Where notecardHQ fits

If you want to know what a handwritten card costs before you talk to anyone, we publish it: $3.25 a card in the US at up to 499 a month, $2.95 from 500, $2.35 from 2,500 and $1.95 from 10,000, with card, real-pen handwriting, envelope and postage included and no monthly fee. International cards are $4.25 down to $2.95. Every card is written by a robot holding a real pen in New York, and OCR reads every word back before writing. The API, test keys and MCP server come with every account. We have four handwriting styles, no postcards on our price list and no native CRM apps; integrations run through the API and our recipes.
