Inkpact alternative: how notecardHQ compares

Inkpact vs notecardHQ: human scribes in the UK vs robots holding real pens in New York. Pricing, minimums, onboarding, integrations, and where Inkpact is the better pick.

5 min read

Inkpact is a UK company that sends handwritten notes for retail brands, and unlike most services in this space, its notes are written by people, not robots. notecardHQ, the service we run, writes every card with a robot holding a real pen in New York. This page compares the two using Inkpact's own website and a few third-party sources, each linked. Everything was checked on October 25, 2026 and may change, so confirm the details with Inkpact before you decide.

What Inkpact offers

Inkpact calls itself "the physical mail platform for modern retailers" on its homepage, and says each note is "Genuinely handwritten by one of our 2,000 scribes." An older profile on Escape the City describes writers working from home with fountain pen and ink, gives a figure of "1,500+ scribes," and reports "200k+ handwritten notes sent each year." The two scribe counts differ, most likely because the older page is out of date.

Notes are not the only product. The homepage also lists lookbooks, gifting and programmatic postcards, plus an "AI Scripted Handwriting" service that uses AI to write the text of each note. Its customer list is made up mostly of UK fashion, beauty and retail brands, with published case-study results. The company was founded in 2015 by Charlotte Pearce, per the University of Portsmouth.

Where Inkpact is strong

  • A person holds the pen. A note written by a human is the most literal version of the "handwritten" promise. If that is what matters most to you, no robot service, ours included, can offer it.
  • Retail integrations. Inkpact lists native Shopify and Klaviyo integrations, "most major e-commerce and CRM platforms," and "a flexible API," and names Ometria, per its homepage. Our Shopify and Klaviyo connections run through recipes that call our API, not native apps.
  • A UK base. Inkpact is a UK company working mostly with UK brands. We write and mail every card from New York, so a card to a UK customer travels as international mail. If most of your customers are in the UK, a UK-based service is worth pricing.
  • Flexible commercial terms. Its homepage offers pilots, "performance-based commercial models" and to match a brand's current mailing costs.

Pricing and minimums

Inkpact does not publish prices. Its homepage offers volume-based pricing on request, targets brands sending "from 100 notes per month upward," and says onboarding takes 2 to 4 weeks. A third-party guide by Sincerely, which is itself a competitor, reports the same: no published prices and a floor of roughly 100 notes a month.

notecardHQ prices are all-in (card, handwriting, envelope, and postage), billed per card mailed, with no monthly fee:

Cards a monthUSInternational
1 to 499$3.25$4.25
500 to 2,499$2.95$3.95
2,500 to 9,999$2.35$3.35
10,000 or more$1.95$2.95

Because Inkpact prices by quote, the only fair comparison is to ask it for an all-in price per note at your volume, postage included, and set that beside these figures. Two structural differences are clear without a quote. Our first tier starts at one card a month, so there is no floor to reach before you can send. And canceled notes never bill, so there is nothing to use up.

Inkpact facts are from its homepage on October 25, 2026. We did not review Inkpact's API documentation, so we have not compared test modes, webhooks, or how it handles retries.

A human hand or a robot pen

Both put real ink on paper, so neither is a printed font. A person writing by hand gives every note natural variation, and some brands will want exactly that. The trade-off Inkpact itself publishes is lead time: 2 to 4 weeks to onboard and a monthly minimum.

At notecardHQ, a handwriting model turns each note into pen strokes, and OCR reads every word back before the robot writes. Numbers must read exactly, and any word that does not read cleanly is redrawn. The steps are in how we check every card. We offer four handwriting styles and do not make custom handwriting from your own writing.

One more point for a careful buyer: Inkpact's public review base is small. G2 shows 5 reviews averaging 4.3, some flagged by G2 as incentivized, and we found no Trustpilot page. Ask for references and a sample, as you would with any service, ours included.

Which one fits

Inkpact fits if you are a UK retail or direct-to-consumer brand sending 100 or more notes a month, you want every note written by a person, you want native Shopify and Klaviyo connections, and a quote and a few weeks of onboarding suit your timeline.

notecardHQ fits if you want a published, all-in price with no minimum volume, cards to the US and abroad from one account at a known price, or you are sending from your own code and want idempotency keys, US address checks, test keys, and signed webhooks for every status. You upload your own card design and return address, and we can write the note from context you send.
