Best handwritten note services in 2026
An honest roundup of Handwrytten, Simply Noted, IgnitePOST, LettrLabs, Scribeless, thanks.io and notecardHQ: pen or print, pricing, API access and best fit.
Handwritten note services come in two kinds. Some put a real pen in a robot and write every card. Others print a handwriting font. Both are sold as "handwritten," so the first question to ask any service is how the writing is made. This roundup covers seven services that come up most when businesses look for handwritten cards: Handwrytten, Simply Noted, IgnitePOST, LettrLabs, Scribeless, thanks.io, and notecardHQ.
A disclosure: we run notecardHQ. We have tried to be fair, which includes saying where another service is the better pick. Every competitor figure below links to its source, and all of them were checked on October 25, 2026. Prices and features change, so confirm on each vendor's site before you buy.

The services, one by one
Handwrytten
Handwrytten writes with robots it builds in-house in Tempe, Arizona, according to its robots page. Its pricing page lists a retail price of $3.75 per card with postage extra, while its company FAQ says pricing starts at $3.25, so check which applies to you. Business plans run from Pro at $449 a month plus $1.99 per card to Agency at $2,499 a month plus $1.19 per card, billed every four weeks, and all of them include API access.
Where it leads: integrations. Handwrytten lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify, Zapier, Make, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, CDK/Fortellis, Tekion, and a Claude connector on its homepage. Its API has a test mode and official Python and npm SDKs, and its Shopify listing claims 35 handwriting styles. Custom fonts cost $1,500 to $2,000.
Simply Noted
Simply Noted writes with a "real ballpoint pen" and hand-addresses folded cards, per its pricing page. Credits run from $2.80 per card at 100 down to $0.90 at 50,000, with $0.82 postage added in practice. Its own 2026 cost guide puts the all-in price at $3.62 at 100 credits and $1.72 at 50,000. Credits expire after 12 months. The API, Zapier, Shopify, and webhooks come with the Unlimited plan: $497 a month plus $0.99 per note plus postage.
Where it leads: price at volume, with no monthly fee on credits. Its $1.72 all-in figure at 50,000 is among the lowest published for real-pen folded cards (LettrLabs lists a bi-fold card at $1.52 on its Enterprise tier).
IgnitePOST
IgnitePOST says its "robots hold real pens and write out your messages in real ink," with both card and envelope handwritten, on its pricing page. Prepaid credits cost $1.75 to $4.39 per card with postage included, though the volume breakpoints are not published. Annual plans start at $109 a month for 300 cards a year. Every plan includes unlimited API calls.
Where it leads: developer tooling today. Its API docs are public and include a test mode, a preview endpoint, an inserts endpoint for gift cards and similar items, and a webhook when an order is fulfilled.
LettrLabs
LettrLabs says its robots write "with a ball point pen" on its homepage, and it also sells printed postcards and letters. On the free Starter tier its pricing page lists a handwritten card and envelope at $2.86 with postage included, a handwritten postcard at $1.66, and a printed 4x6 postcard at $0.76. Premium is $399 a month (a $449 figure also appears on the page). API access is included on Starter.
Where it leads: the lowest published single-card price for a handwritten card in this list, free API access, and a wide integration list including Klaviyo, Shopify, Salesforce, HubSpot, ServiceTitan, AccuLynx, Zapier, and Gorgias.
Scribeless
How Scribeless writes is disputed, and we could not settle it. 2019 university coverage described robots with fountain pens. Its homepage and API docs do not mention pens, its Shopify listing calls the handwriting "AI powered," and Simply Noted, a competitor, says it laser-prints. Ask for a sample.
Its pricing page lists postcards only, from £1.99 down to £1.19, and offers to price-match. Where it leads: facilities in California, New York, Canada, the UK, France, and Germany, plus API webhooks for recipient events and QR scans.
thanks.io
thanks.io prints. Its help center describes "a fully automated digital printing process," and its own compare page notes that it renders handwriting digitally. A notecard costs $3.04 on pay as you go and $1.49 on the $199 a month Professional plan, and international notecards run $2.81 to $4.15, per its pricing page.
Where it leads: low prices for printed mail, postcards, and a webhook on postal delivery. For the trade-offs, see thanks.io vs a real pen.
notecardHQ
Robots holding real pens write every card in our New York studio, and cards are stamped and mailed in the US and internationally. A handwriting model turns each note into pen strokes, and OCR reads every word back before writing. Numbers must read exactly, and unclear words are redrawn. Prices are public and all-in: $3.25 US and $4.25 international at 1 to 499 cards a month, down to $1.95 and $2.95 at 10,000 or more. There is no monthly fee, and the API comes with every account.
Where we fall short: we have no native CRM marketplace apps yet (Zapier, Shopify, and Stripe work through recipes), four handwriting styles (not dozens), and no custom fonts.
When another service is the better pick
- You live in Salesforce, HubSpot, Blackbaud, or a dealer system. Handwrytten has the deepest native integrations.
- You send tens of thousands a month and price is everything. Simply Noted and LettrLabs publish lower real-pen figures than ours at that scale.
- You need a test mode this week. IgnitePOST has one documented today.
- You want printed and handwritten pieces in one campaign. LettrLabs is built for that.
- You want many handwriting styles or your own font. Handwrytten offers both.
- Printed is fine for the job. thanks.io is cheaper than any pen service here.
How to choose
- Decide if you need a real pen. Our post on robot handwriting vs handwriting fonts covers the difference.
- Price your volume all-in: card, writing, envelope, and postage, plus any monthly fee divided by your card count.
- Check which plan unlocks the API. For a side by side of the APIs, see our handwritten notes API comparison.
- If you mail abroad, ask for an international price in writing. Most real-pen services do not publish one.

Three more we compare separately: Inkpact, a UK service whose notes are written by human scribes (Inkpact), in our Inkpact alternative; Handwrite.io, which writes with real pens at $2.99 a card with postage (handwrite.io), in our Handwrite.io alternative; and PostGrid, a print-and-mail letter API where we found no handwriting product (PostGrid), in PostGrid handwritten notes.
