Pen or font

Thankster's FAQ and homepage talk about "handwriting fonts": you pick one of theirs or have one made from your own handwriting, with "subtle techniques for authenticity." Neither page mentions pens or robots. Third-party write-ups disagree with each other, so if the method matters to you, ask Thankster and request a sample. A font can be a fine choice for some mail; our page on real pen vs printed handwriting covers when it is and how to tell the difference.

What a card costs at your volume

At small volumes Thankster costs less. A folded card on its Small plan is $2.09 plus the $0.82 stamp, $2.91 before the monthly fee, and its Integration Plan is $2.54 with the stamp. notecardHQ is $3.25 at that volume. Around 2,500 cards a month the two are close: $2.35 for us against $2.24 plus a monthly fee on Thankster's Integration Plan. At 10,000 a month notecardHQ is $1.95, below Thankster's lowest published Integration Plan price. Internationally, Thankster adds $0.60 to its US price; ours is $4.25 down to $2.95, postage included.

Where notecardHQ is different

  • Every word is read back before writing. Each note becomes pen strokes and is read by OCR word by word; anything unclear is redrawn before the pen moves. How every card is written.
  • One all-in price. Card, handwriting, envelope and postage, from $3.25 in the US and $4.25 abroad, down to $1.95 at volume. No monthly fee. Pricing.
  • Built for developers. Idempotency keys so a retry never mails a second card, US address verification before a note is accepted, and a status for every note. Quickstart.
  • We can write the notes for you. Send us what you know about each recipient and we write the note, then the robot writes the card.
  • Written in New York. Cards are written, stamped and mailed from our New York studio, to the US and abroad.

When Thankster may suit you better

If a handwriting font is good enough for the mail you send and price per card decides it, Thankster is cheaper at low volumes. It also offers multi-step drip campaigns, AI-written messages and images, flat cards, postcards and letters, Zapier recipe pages for hundreds of apps, a Keap integration, and the option of a font made from your own handwriting.
